有些家长常常埋怨自己四五岁的孩子早晨赖床，即使在父母的千呼万唤下勉强醒来，也是赖在床上不肯起来，早餐来不及吃，上幼儿园经常迟到。家长还反映这些孩子昨上睡得很迟，大多在10时后才上床，到11时才能入眠。其实，正是迟睡造成了孩子赖床。
有研究表明，1～3岁的孩子每天要睡11～12个小时，4～7岁的孩子要睡10.5～11个小时。如果晚上11时入眠，第二天早晨7时起床，那每天的睡眠时间才8小时，这对孩子的生长发育非常不利。
促进孩子长高的一种激素–生长激素的分泌高峰在睡眠中，尤其是在熟睡时。如果孩子经常失眠的话，就会影响生长激素的正常分泌，一两年后，这些孩子的身高将明显低于睡眠充足的孩子。许多父母很关心孩子的身高，却往往忽视了孩子每天的睡眠时间，大家知不知道睡眠和学习与记忆有什么关系？
造成孩子睡眠不足的原因有很多，大多与家长的生活习惯有关。如果孩子有单独的卧室，可以安排他早些睡觉。若是与父母同寝一室，父母就应该给孩子营造一个有利于睡眠的氛围，把室内的灯光调得暗一些，孩子上订前尽量不要和他交谈。有的孩子晚上看了一些刺激情的电视节目，就会回忆电视中的惊险场面，使大脑处于兴奋状态，因此很难入眼。所以，在临睡前应避免让孩子看这类节目。
睡眠不足会引起近视吗？
儿童近视与睡眠不足有一定关系。青春前期是近视眼形成的高峰。支配眼睛局部的交感神经与副交感神经失去平衡，是近视眼形成的病理基础。如果儿童睡眠不足，就可能引起全身植物神经功能紊乱，进而影响眼部的神经，引起眼睛睫状肌调节功能的失调，导致近视。
因此，卫生专家建议，在青春前期这段时期，每天应睡足9～10个小时。如果有可能，中午也要睡上半小时或1小时，这对于预防儿童近视有很大帮助。

Very disappointed that the display did not start on time, we left with a very tired, cold and upset 4 year old at 20.10 and the display hadn’t even started! An attendant on the way out told us the reason for the delay was to let more people in, we arrived at 6 o’clock to enjoy the build up and lighting of the bonfire so why couldn’t the display be started on time???Where can I get a refund so I can give the ticket money direct to our local school.
Chacha – I have also heard this that films over there in Pak were banned but I think that no longer is the case. Hina will be the best to inform us. From what I do know when I visit there is that the Pak public are very loving to hindi films and the songs so I don’t think there is any tension etc. The biggest stars in India are the biggest stars in Pak also.
